I think most rational people watch the Biden administration and Democrats and think to themselves: “Can they not just leave us alone for one minute?” or “How can anyone be so stupid?” The answer to the first question is a simple “no.” However, the second question is much more complicated. It comes down to a question of the modus operandi of the administration. Maybe they aren’t failing; maybe they are doing exactly what they intend to.
Among conservative circles, I have personally heard Hanlon’s Razor (never attribute to malice what can adequately be explained by stupidity) posited as an explanation for Democrats’ pervasive failures. The main problem with this notion is that the Biden administration and Democrats don’t just seem to be wrong, they seem to be almost always wrong. They take the most incorrect, most indefensible stance on almost every issue. I am not a master of probability, but to be that wrong—in my estimation—requires mastery of the subject.
I have no first-hand knowledge of what goes on in the heads of D.C’s leftist bureaucrats. But I am firmly of the opinion that, when people do something detrimental repeatedly, they have an ulterior motive for doing so, which can be inferred from the outcome.
This begs the question: what motivates Democrats to destroy our country? I have a few ideas.
#1) The Sin of Lucifer – I mean this in a metaphorical sense. The sin of Lucifer was to aspire to the authority of God: to create and receive praise on equal terms. When this failed, he was overcome by hatred and malice. To retaliate, Lucifer set his heart upon destroying all that is good and true simply because it is good and true. He does not care that doing so destroys himself. His pride keeps him from ever admitting a fault exists within himself; he only ever doubles down.
This is seen in the “Critical Theories” which abound in today’s America. Pay attention and you will notice that critical theorists only ever talk of “deconstruction,” “abolition,” and “critique.” There is never talk of “creation,” “establishment,” or “improvement,” let alone introspection.
#2) Postmodernism – This flawed mode of thinking is similar to the Sin of Lucifer, but not quite the same. Postmodernism derives from the Continental School, the branch of philosophy that has dominated the European Continent for the past four-hundred years (in opposition to the Analytical School of England). It embraces the likes of Rousseau, Marx, Hegel, Foucault, and others who place their subjective interpretation of the world before observable reality. Like the Sin of Lucifer, Postmodernists only ever double down when proven wrong. They are not incorrect, it is the world which is wrong.
#3) The Ratchet Effect – Conservatives long ago figured out that almost all problems faced by the modern American cannot be solved by government programs because they were caused by government programs. The GOP, though, has failed to notice that, to bureaucrats, this is a feature, not a bug. Every failed government policy becomes a justification for a new government regulation, spending bill, program, or bureau.
#4) Disgust – Disgust is an extremely important evolutionary trait. It provides behavioral protection against parasites and pathogens. However, in civilized societies, it can be weaponized to turn brother against brother. Research suggests that disgust sensitivity is intimately related to support for authoritarianism. COVID is a great example of this. Your neighbor ceases to be a person, they are nothing more than a vector of disease that must be contained. Disgust is overwhelmingly obvious in Leftist rhetoric.
#5) Humiliation – Pervasive humiliation is an extremely powerful component of population control. Humiliation causes the gradual breakdown of confidence, which squelches the people’s moral strength and capability to resist.
The most potent form of humiliation is forcing people to say things that are patently absurd. The more that woke ideology scares Americans into submitting to absurdities, the more they lose confidence in themselves and the less they push back.
Perhaps the most obvious example of the absurdities being forced on Americans by rampant leftism is the assertion that “Trans women are women” and its related permutations. If you can be made to believe something that ridiculous, then you can be made to believe anything.
#6) Corruption – There has been considerable evidence of the Biden family’s corruption for quite some time. If this is the primary motive behind administration policy, then we are truly experiencing the “looter” mentality articulated in Atlas Shrugged.
#7) Treason – This one needs no explanation.
But what use is all this speculation if we Americans don’t stand up? And how can we stand up?
We can begin by protecting beauty, asserting the truth, refusing to be shamed, stonewalling those who would intentionally harm our nation for political gain, and hounding corrupt and traitorous individuals. Oh, and don’t be a coward. Everyone has something to lose.
